Dupes vs. Brands
In today’s world of social media being a source of constant information about products, it can be hard to decipher which purchases are worth the money. Of course, not everything is worth buying the high-end versions. No one wants to go broke over a lip gloss. Here are some of my favorite dupes for buying affordable products!
For these hot summer months, a good spf is absolutely essential. One of the internet's favorite brands is Supergoop! for their natural ingredients, high level of spf, and ease of application. However, the going price is $38 US dollars for 50 mL of their famous “Unseen Sunscreen”. It is SPF 40, water resistant, and is free of pore-clogging oils. On the other hand, the viral Trader Joe’s sunscreen has been labeled as a dupe. This product retails for $8.99 for 50 mL, has the same SPF 40, and has a similar promise of invisibility and no clogging oils. In my experience, I couldn’t tell the difference between the two! Except in my bank account, of course.
Next is the Charlotte Tilbury “Hollywood Flawless Filter” foundation which retails for $49 in exchange for a 30 mL bottle of their famous foundation. This gained viral attention for the natural glow and radiance it gives to the skin. It also has been known for its fair amount of coverage, while still being labeled as a “clean girl” product. However, most people can’t get behind the price. Elf, a cosmetic company known for its affordability, came out with a product that is essentially the same, only a fraction of the price. Elf’s “Halo Glow Liquid Filter” retails for $14 and 31.5 mL. I, honestly, prefer this product over the Flawless Filter. It lasts longer and gives such a glow to my skin!
